Advancing newborn circumcision care

Turning more than three decades of clinical experience into better tools, techniques, and training.

ADVANCING CARE

Before SafeCirc®, circumcision hadn’t changed in decades.

We knew there was a better, safer way.

Safe newborn male circumcision depends on clinically sound methodology and dedicated care practices. At SafeCirc®, we are solely committed to the advancement of newborn circumcision care.

Our 30+ years of experience across clinical research, training, and diverse healthcare settings revealed opportunities to improve every stage of circumcision care — from positioning and planning to tissue control, hemostasis, wound care, and provider training.

Six opportunities to improve care

Newborn Positioning System

Creating a safer, cleaner foundation for every procedure.

1 | POSITION

Procedural safety begins before an instrument touches the patient.

The Newborn Positioning System creates a stable, hygienic foundation that supports consistent, efficient care focused on newborn safety and comfort.

Magnetic strap retention

Straps secure to the board with magnetic attachments for quick, reliable positioning (no slots).

Fluid containment above the board

Designed to contain body fluids on the surface, helping keep the board and surrounding area cleaner.

More comfortable and easier to set up

The more comfortable foam straps can be conveniently attached from the front.

More hygienic by design

Easier to clean, with fewer opportunities for contamination.

Stable, more comfortable, hygienic newborn positioning designed to support safer care, greater comfort, and simpler procedural setup.

Surgical pen

2 | PLAN

A small, yet crucial step to improve outcomes

The surgical pen illustrates the SafeCirc approach: examine each step of newborn circumcision and ask whether we can make it better.

Marking creates a visible reference for the intended incision before the clamp is placed. The need for revision is one of the most common late complications of circumcision. Removing excessive or insufficient amount of tissue can be prevented by using a surgical pen mark.

“Prevention of these errors is best achieved by marking the site of the corona on the skin surface prior to any incision.”

— Kaplan, Complications of Circumcision, Urol Clin North Am, 1983

Purpose-designed marking as part of procedural planning.

Each minimally invasive AccuCirc® device is engineered for precision and safety, featuring three precision-engineered components that work together to ensure a consistent, minimally invasive circumcision every time:

  • A protective shield that inserts without requiring a dorsal slit, making this minimally invasive circumcision less painful than traditional methods.

  • A surgical pen that marks tissue precisely, preventing removal of too much or too little.

  • A specialized foreskin holder that ensures precise alignment for consistent, accurate results.

This system prevents mismatching device parts that cause injuries with traditional clamps. When comparing AccuCirc® vs Gomco or other methods, the built-in safety features are unmatched.

4 | CONTROL

Thermal cautery

SafeCirc uses thermal cautery to make the circumcision incision while providing immediate hemostasis. The heated tip cuts and cauterizes tissue without passing electrical current through the infant.

Thermal cautery has been well studied in circumcision, with published experience supporting effective hemostasis and better outcomes.

The cautery tip can be sterilized and reused, reducing reliance on disposable scalpels and other single-use supplies. This helps reduce procedural costs and waste while supporting a more sustainable approach to circumcision, particularly in resource-limited settings.

Thermal cautery provides localized heat at the instrument tip without passing electrical current through the patient.

5 | CLOSE

Tissue Adhesive

Wound management: another opportunity to improve care.

Tissue adhesive supports efficient wound closure and creates a protective film over the approximated wound. Tissue adhesive can help prevent postoperative wound-healing complications.

6 | TEACH

SafeCirc Training Model

Teaching the procedure, not just the device.

Experience training providers across different healthcare settings reinforced a central lesson: safer technology must be paired with structured, reproducible training.

The model brings hands-on instruction, competency assessment, and supervised progression into a unified approach.
