Clinical resources for newborn circumcision providers

Evidence-based support from the leading newborn circumcision team at SafeCirc®.

The clinical education arm of SafeCirc®

SafeCirc® Institute is the clinical training and research division of SafeCirc®, built to bring our standard of precision, safety, and evidence-based care to providers everywhere.

For too long, newborn male circumcision has lacked the rigor applied to the rest of newborn medicine — inconsistent technique, limited training infrastructure, and little standardized outcomes data. SafeCirc® Institute exists to close that gap: training clinicians on the Minimally Invasive AccuCirc® device, publishing outcomes and research, and building a referral network so families and providers globally have access to the safest circumcision care available.

The AccuCirc®: Safe, precise, and modern newborn circumcision technology

After years of clinical trials, research, and thoughtful engineering, the AccuCirc® device is here. Combined with patented SafeCirc® methodology like the mandatory use of a surgical marking pen, precise alignment, a protective shield, and a minimally invasive approach, the AccuCirc® eliminates known risks associated with the use of traditional circumcision devices like the Gomco clamp, Mogen clamp, and Plastibell.

The clinical team behind SafeCirc® Institute

Every training program, protocol, and resource at SafeCirc® Institute is built and reviewed by clinicians actively practicing newborn circumcision care. Led by founder Dr. David Tomlinson, our team combines decades of clinical experience with an engineer's obsession for precision. Together, we've trained providers across the U.S. and internationally, contributed to peer-reviewed research on newborn male circumcision outcomes, and built the protocols that now define the SafeCirc® standard of care.

Trusted by leading partners in newborn circumcision care, with global reach

When the World Health Organization identified newborn circumcision as a tool to reduce HIV transmission, it called for a safer device suited to resource-limited settings. Dr. Tomlinson assembled an international team to answer that call — the result was the Minimally Invasive AccuCirc® technology.

Since then, SafeCirc® Institute has trained clinicians and built newborn male circumcision programs across Nigeria, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Kenya, in consultation with the World Health Organization, the National Institutes of Health, and the Gates Foundation. Our work is grounded in the same principle wherever it takes place: every newborn deserves a safe, well-trained provider.
